it’s the weekend

{i’ve inserted bright and happy images for your enjoyment due to the bright and happy weather that’s outside right now}

i’m heading up to murfreesboro, tennessee for a baby shower today.  i’m so excited to see all of my college friends.  it’s been since september since i’ve seen most of them so i’m really looking forward to some good girl time.

i just got finished with a presentation for a client and i can’t wait to reveal the design boards to you.  i’ll probably put them up on the blog sometime next week, so be on the look out for them.  there were three spaces that she needed me to design…all of them kid’s rooms.  i had a blast putting the design concepts together and i can’t wait to get started on everything.

i hope all of you have a fun weekend.  i can’t tell you how excited i am that i don’t have to wear my jacket outside today.  it’s definitely not bathing suit weather yet, but this warm blast is such a refreshing change from the arctic chill we’ve been under.  hopefully it’s warm wherever you are too.

new nesting newbies

Capturelast week i wrote about a new online magazine called nesting newbies.  there’s a new “nn” out online now, the winter issuewhen i posted that blog last week i didn’t realize that i was a few days early from the new issue being released.  i got a tweet from @NestingNewbies just after that post saying that the winter issue was out.  of course, i headed right over to check it out.

Capture2the winter issue is once more filled with a mix of decorating tips diy projects and yummy recipes.  it’s also twice as long.  i’m glad too, because i found myself wanting more after the last issue.

here’s another sampling of the online mag.

hearts

a100134_0204_tulip02_xl

at the beginning of february one of my readers sent me a request for a post highlighting some creative valentine’s day centerpieces.  stacy was throwing a valentine’s day luncheon for some of her closest girlfriends and needed some inspiration.  i found a few pretties to show her, and you can see that post here

stacy was sweet enough to send me the pictures from her luncheon so we could all see which bouquet she chose.

for the main table she chose the hearts centerpiece and she did a great job.  how beautiful are those tulips.

progress and the antique market

i hope you all had a great heart day.  i sure did.  billy and i had an awesome dinner down in inman park on saturday night.  i was so excited about the valentine’s gift that i got him too.  when we went to the chomp and stomp chilli cook-off back in november billy spotted a piece of artwork by traci browning.  it was a gallery-wrapped photograph of the krog street tunnel in inman park.  i loved it too and was really drawn to it’s rawness.  i started talking to traci about purchasing it for him for valentine’s day.  since we dined in inman park last night we drove through it.  here’s a picture of of the piece.

krog street tunnel

billy got me a 90 minute massage for valentine’s day, and it was a-ma-zing!  he scheduled it in advance for sunday afternoon.  it couldn’t have come at a better time either.  i was so sore from painting all weekend long.  finally, i made some major progress in our guest room!! i about fell over when billy said he wanted to help me paint too.  we were able to get the walls and wardrobe units painted.  i also ended up painting the mullions on the windows too which i hadn’t planned on doing.  that was the most tedious part of the painting, but it was so worth it once it was complete.  the room looks like a demolition zone right now, but hopefully we can get it put back together soon so that i can show you some pics of the progress.  i’m soooo happy with the way it’s coming along!

the scott antique market was in town this weekend.  i was able to get down there before it started snowing on friday.  i was long overdue for a visit to scott’s.  i can’t remember the last time i went.  i saw some great things and was really excited to see all of the industrial-style antiques. i took pictures so that those of you who have never been to scott’s could see what it’s all about.

i loved this booth that had tons of industrial furniture.

beautiful lime washed daybed.

i really liked this hanging basket lamp.  the shape is really unique.  i’m not too crazy about the bow that’s tied around the top of it though.

this booth was pretty simple but i loved the lime washed trestle table.

i LOVED this vendor with her oversized hanging lamps.  the best thing is that she’s local to atlanta.  i can’t wait to visit her warehouse.

the scott antique market is the 2nd weekend of every month so if you are in this area or live a few hours away it really is worth the trip.

loving…

1. oversized industrial lighting like these.

{NOT LOVING} the price-tag that comes along with them.

2.  furniture factory carts.

you can spend $1,250 and get a reproduction from restoration hardware, OR you can get the authentic version at the scott antique market for $395.  i’m gonna take a wild guess that anyone would take the less expensive authentic version over the fake any day.

3. this rug from west elm.  it’s the andalusia rug.  similar to a discontinued rug that was awesome.

i’m enjoying the pretty snow that has fallen.  sweetie, my jack russell, got so cold from playing in it that i didn’t think she would ever stop shaking.  as soon as she stopped though, she wanted to play again.  hopefully you are warm and bundled wherever you are.

here’s a funny video for you to watch.  “weatherman freaks out” about snow.  it’s hillarious. for some reason writer is not letting me insert the video in this post but to see it you can click here.

have a wonderful

valentine’s day!

is it possible…

to be IN LOVE with a fabric????

vervain fabrici think i’ve fallen madly in love with a vervain fabric that i found while i was in the fabricut showroom at adac today.  the image(above & below) that i found online doesn’t do it justice at all.  it’s soooo much prettier in person.  it’s a printed linen with the most beautiful warm colors in it.  i may be so in love because this fabric reminds me of a warm spring day (warm weather please come back; i really, really miss you!!!).

vervain fabric2MPC0071225-2

i would love to design our family room around this fabric.  it would make for some truly stunning window treatments.  i would also have pillows made for my two antique chairs(which will one day be recovered in a light beige linen).  our family room is already painted with sherwin william’s accessible beige, and it’s just the right color to go along with the fabric.  by the way, accessible beige is one of my “go-to” colors.  in my opinion it’s the perfect neutral color.  of course, this whole plan hinges on convincing mr. charm home that it’s not a girly fabric.  hmmm, i highly doubt i’ll be able to pull that off.  so, right now i’ll just continue to dream about it in my head.  i got a memo sample at the showroom today and i’m quite positive i’ll never return it.  well, i guess that’s enough of me drooling over my fabric find.

in case you haven’t heard lonny’s third issue is out.  make sure you check it out.  they did a fab job once again.

Flashthis photo of pam voth and tim barrall’s belgian is my favorite image in this month’s issue.

Capture check out the rest of the issue here.

catch up

tobi fairley designed1house beautiful

i’ve got a lot of blog reading to catch up on.  i haven’t read any blog posts since saturday.  i’m going through serious withdrawals.Microsoft Word - XMPInstructions.doc

 house beautiful

hopefully i’ll get a chance to read through all of my favorites later today.  it’s going to take me a while to catch up since i’ve got so many daily reads.  it seems like every time i hop on the computer i find another great new blog.  although that really excites me it’s hard to find enough time in the day to read all of them.

i also have two brand new magazine issues laying on my coffee table that i need to read…house beautiful and elle decor.  the images in this post are from those issues.

2010-Interior-Decorating-Ideas-Lofts-01b elle decor

have you guys read any good posts lately?  let me know if there are any really good ones that i’ve missed out on that i should definitely go back to read.
