baby harper’s nursery

back in february i gave you a sneak peek of baby harper’s nursery.  well now that harper is days away from coming into this world i’m back to show you the reveal.  it was such a joy designing this nursery for my friends jenny and brock.  i enjoyed every minute of it and got so excited as everything was coming together.

i designed the room around the silk plaid fabric.  the colorful plaid was originally used  as window panels in her guest bedroom that i designed a couple of years ago.  i couldn’t believe how well the vintage circus fabric matched it when i first found it.  it was like they were made for each other.

Picture 038edit  DSC04216editfor artwork we decided that jenny should commission one of her friends to do a painting of the carousel scene in the bumper fabric.  she also got a wonderful shower gift from a friend with harper’s initials painted on it.  how cute are her initials!!!  “hee”

i knew i wanted to do something unusual for the changing table.  when jenny found this beat up dining buffet at a flea market i knew it was “the one.”

updates 007

we turned this beast into a beauty by adding a few coats of paint and some new anthropologie hardware.

we used an antique that jenny had bought previously purchased at an estate sale as harpers dresser.  i added a mirror bought at homegoods above it.  the mirror was a little too pink to begin with but after a light brushing of antique white it was the perfect color.

the precious school desk and chair was also found at an antique store.  i had the itty bitty chair slipcovered in a neutral fabric and added a sash to the bath with the same vintage balloon fabric from her bedding.

i placed the sweetest gift of all on the top of harper’s shelves.  it’s a vintage-like train that jenny’s husband gave her last christmas…soon after we had selected the vintage circus fabric.  i also added pages from vintage nursery rhyme books to photo frames throughout the shelves and the room.

i can’t wait until jenny’s sweet little harper arrives and comes home to her nursery.

that all these amazing fabrics can be found at an online quilting store.  they are so inexpensive too, between $8 and $15.  i can think of a million different uses for these fabrics besides quilts.  click on the individual pictures to be taken to the direct link for that fabric.  you can view many more quilting fabrics at quilthome.com.

sferra and mrs. howard

image

tuesday night i attended an event to promote sferra linens hosted by rhonda carman from all the best blog and phoebe howard.  i told you about pheobe’s store max & co. last week.  well, this event was hosted right next door at her other amazing store called mrs. howard

claire and i started the night off by grabbing a glass of wine beforehand at hobnob in midtown.  although i’ve been following claire’s blog high gloss blue for a while, last night was the first time we met.  she is just as sweet as she is talented and it was great to finally meet her.

after having a drink we headed over to mrs. howard to join everyone else at the event.  all of the best atlanta style and design bloggers were out for the event.  i was so excited to get to meet shameeka ayers of the broke socialite and erika ward of blu label bungalow.  blu label bungalow was actually one of the first design blogs i ever read.  a few other inspiring bloggers in attendance…blayne beacham of this photographer’s life, holly of things that inspire, shani of camille maurice and jenny of mfamb.

here are some links to a few other posts about wednesday night’s event.
