mg+bw celebration

Capturelast night i attended a celebration at the mitchell gold + bob williams showroom.  the event was held to celebrate the release of their new book the comfortable home and also to celebrate the brand’s 20 year anniversary.  i hadn’t been in the showroom in a while so it was nice to see some of the new pieces as well as get a chance to see their newly launched bedding line, modern linens.  i was really impressed with the quality of the new linen line.  i was also surprised to see such a wide variety of styles and colors.  most all of the pieces in each of the collections coordinated with the other so that they could be interchanged.

i took advantage of being one of the first guests to arrive at the showroom and snapped some photos of a few of the different vignettes.

i love the chester sofa covered in linen and the modern leather wing-back chair in the photo above.  completely classic.

i also got photos of some of the new linens.

above is my favorite upholstered bed from mg+bw.

this striped sheet set was my least favorite.

it was great event and so exciting to meet mitchell and bob in person.  at the end of the evening they thanked us for our support and for sharing the evening with them.

busy day and a book

today was a typical monday.  busy, busy, busy.  it was filled with space planning, working on a guest blog, fabric shopping at forsyth fabrics and lewis and sheron, a trip to ikea, and a new client meeting.  i managed to get it all in, but it looks like the rest of the week will be just as busy.   i was really excited when i came home and found a little package that i’ve been waiting on.  it’s the new book by mitchell gold and bob williams called the comfortable home: how to invest in your nest and live well for less.

the reason i was so excited about getting this little book is because the MG+BW’s director of communications contacted me last week about doing a review of the book and then doing a give-away on my blog.  so, alas, the book is here. i’ll start reading it tonight.  ooh, just realized how late it is.  i’ll start reading in the morning.   then later this week provide you with a review of it.  stay tuned because along with that review post will be a giveaway(whoohoo! – charm’s first give away).

i’ll also be attending an event at the mitchell gold + bob williams atlanta showroom tomorrow night to celebrate the release of the book as well as the company’s 20th anniversary.  i’ll make sure to take lots of pictures to show you guys.

head to the mountains

about 2 months ago a client contacted me about redecorating her son’s room.  i talked about his room in this previous post.  he is 7 years old, and his room still had the same decor that it did when he was a toddler.  since he is getting older she figured it was time to transition into a “big boy” room that would last him until he was about 12 or 13 years old.  i decided the best direction to go in was a room with a camping/hunting/mountain retreat theme because my client had just bought a log bunk bed.

this is what the room originally looked like

here’s what the design board looked like

and here’s how the room turned out

if you think the deer in the picture above looks photoshop’d you’re right.  i hadn’t hung it yet but this is what it will look like when it gets hung.

loving…

1.  these ruffled panels from urban outfitters and the exposed brick wall that they are pictured on.

2.  this awesome umbrella stand from z.gallerie.  makes me wonder if you could make these yourself by buying an oversized pair of rain boots and spray painting them white.  if anyone gives that a try let me know.

3.  this moss-covered christmas wreath.  saw it here but get the tutorial from martha stewart here.

all this rain and cool weather that’s been hanging out around atlanta(and pretty much the whole southeast) has been making me want to cozy up next to a warm fireplace.

any of these will do.
