end of the silence and a new toy

this weekend was a very exciting weekend.  first of all, billy and i attended the break the silence party for silent clark.  it was so exciting to get to hear him speak after 100 days of silence.  the whole event was such a celebration.  billy recorded clark’s first words and put it up on youtube.  here’s the video in case you want to check it out.

in other exciting news…i got a new toy!!!!

i have been wanting to get a new, real camera for a while now.  i have a point-and-shoot and while it’s great outdoors i can never get a good interior shot.  since i’m an interior designer it’s kindof important for me to be able to take photographs in interior settings.

i finally bit the bullet and purchased a camera this weekend.  i am so thrilled with my new toy too!!!

in case you are interested this is what i got…

the EOS Rebel XS 18-55IS.  i ended up getting the kit that came with a lense.

i also got an additional telephoto zoom lense (EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS).

EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS

this is the first camera that i have ever had with a detachable lense.  i’ve previously only had point-and-shoot cameras.  i’ve also only kept those point-and-shoots on auto.  it’s going to be a total learning experience trying to figure this whole lense thing out but i’m enjoying it so far.  i took random pictures around the house all day long.  i also found taking photos of my dog sweetie to be really fun.

isn’t she such a great little model!

ok. i guess i got a little carried away with the doggie photo shoot.  i did take some photos of more than just sweetie though.

i haven’t shared any recent photos of my guest room because i was waiting until i had a new camera.  here are a few sneak peaks of some of the things i’ve added.  hopefully i’ll get a chance to take the photos of the rest of the room soon.

and one of my favorite photos that i took today was of a candle holder on my coffee table. it was my favorite because i was halfway across the room when i took it.  it looks like i was right beside it.

i’m already thinking about the next lense that i want to save up for.  its this tamron wide angle lense.

come on in

a reader sent me a request a few weeks ago to do an entry room inspiration post.  i’ve been so busy that i am just now getting around to it.  better late than never right?!?

also, i want to thank all of you for your blogiversary comments.  they were all so sweet.  and speaking of busy, i haven’t gotten to comment on everyone’s blog or respond to blog emails for that very reason.  just know that i really do appreciate your comments and emails.  i’ll try to respond as soon as i get a chance.

anywhoo, here’s are the inspiration images that i found.  i feel like all of these spaces have a lot of charm to them.

this one’s my favorite.  i’m in love with the painted white floors and the owl umbrella stand.  i {heart} J.A.!

so what do you have in your entryway?  a table? a settee? nothing? i have a small skirted table that i made myself due to the size of my entry.  my entry is a hallway and it’s pretty small so that’s about all i could have in the space.

1 year

today is my 1 year blogiversary!

starting this blog was one of the best things i could have ever done.  i have met so many amazing people through blogging.  i never thought that i would enjoy it near as much as i do, and i definitely never thought that blogging would open so many doors for me.

i am so thankful for all of my readers.  i really enjoy hearing from each of you, whether by comment or by email.  hearing that you’ve enjoyed a post makes my day, so THANK YOU so much!!  i’m looking forward to another great year of blogging and i hope that all of you will stick around for it.

xo,

Cristi

my dream kitchen

if i could build my dream kitchen i would build one with very few or no upper cabinets.  i like the look of shelving but think i could do without them completely.  while i was browsing through my kitchen inspiration files i realized how many kitchens i have saved that don’t have upper cabinets.

market: part 2

i started sharing some of my pictures from my trip to the atlanta market yesterday, and i’m going to continue with some more today.

roost steals my heart every show.  all of their pieces have so much detail.  catalog images don’t do them justice most of the time, so it’s so nice to get to see them in person a few times a year.  felt was a big theme in the roost showroom this year and i was loving it.

roost1

sea life is very hot right now so bliss studio was dead on with their showroom.  they got my vote for the most inspiring showroom color scheme.  the blue and orange was beautiful.

bliss-studio

vintage, vintage, vintage.  it was vintage heaven at vagabond vintage.

Vagabond-Vintage1

studio a is a new line carried by the southern accessories today rep group.  the recycled bamboo knot furniture pieces were so unique.

and the showroom where i saw my favorite piece of the whole market pretty much stole the show.  regina andrew.

and that’s about it for this market.  there were plenty of other showrooms that i visited, but i either forgot to get photos of them or my photos didn’t turn out well.

hope you all enjoyed my little virtual walk-thru.

market: part 1

if you haven’t signed up for the giveaway yet you still have time.  make sure you enter to win $60 from csnstores.com.  the giveaway ends at 6pm tonight and i’ll announce the winner tomorrow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
this post about atlanta’s market from last week and the week before is slightly overdue.  it has taken me forever to weed through all of my photos.  i didn’t realize i took so many.  i snapped photos of cool things that i saw, but i also took photos of merchandise that i ordered.  all in all i have about 500 photos to weed through.  way too many!
i’m sure you all would get so bored if i showed you everything so i’ve narrowed it down to my favorites.
first of all, parquet flooring and rustic wood flooring in general was in quite a few showroom…barreveld, vagabond vintage, bobo, and more.  i noticed it in january’s show but i think it was in even more showrooms at this show.  it was very lovely.
my favorite find for a new vendor was soleil de province.
DSC06891 they had amazing french style furnishings, linens and accessories.
soleil de provence
bobo always has such a beautiful showroom.  i could stay in there forever looking around.  i love the mix of antique objects mixed with the new ones.
and go home had some very cool vignettes.  the ghost bamboo chairs were fab!
to be continued…
